Filing of Documents - All documents pertaining to Dissolution, Nullity, Legal Separation, Child Support, Paternity, Custody/Visitation, Guardianship, Domestic Violence and Harassment are filed with the Clerk of the Superior Court. The Family Law Division is contained within the Civil Division of the Court.  Filings are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM in the Civil Division Clerks Office, First FloorFor additional information, please call (707) 299-1130.

How to Schedule Ex Parte Hearings for Family Law Issues - Ex parte hearings regarding family law issues are available so that you may ask the judge for emergency orders.

How to Schedule a Family Law Case - Family Law hearings, in which at least one party is represented by an attorney, are heard each Monday at 8:30 a.m. in Department A, Historic Courthouse. Family Law hearings for self-represented parties are heard each Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in Department N, Historic Courthouse. Civil Domestic Violence hearings for self-represented parties are heard each Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in Department N.

Napa Superior Court Legal Self-Help Center - The Self-Help Center provides assistance completing forms regarding Child Support, Custody, Visitation, Paternity, Restraining Orders, Unlawful Detainers, Guardianships, Adoptions, and other civil matters as time permits.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Family Court Services

Family Law Facilitator - The Family Law Facilitator provides information and assistance in filling out forms regarding Child Support, Custody, Visitation, Paternity, Restraining Orders and other Civil/Family Law matters as time permits. 

Family Mediation - Mediation gives parents the opportunity to create a parenting plan for the care of their children after separation.

Emergency Mediation - An Emergency Mediation session gives parent an opportunity to agree on a temporary parenting plan with the help of a neutral mediator, pending the scheduling of a regular mediation appointment at Family Court Services at a later date.

Family Court Orientation and Parent Education - Family Court Services provides parents an orientation to help them understand the mediation process and court procedures. 

Domestic Violence Services - All family services occur in a safe environment with separate waiting rooms and separate sessions available for each parent. 

Bilingual Services - Family Court Orientation, Family Mediation, and Family Law Facilitator and Guardianship Services are offered by Spanish-speaking staff.  Other languages are available through the use of certified interpreters.

Unified Family Court - The Napa Unified Family Court program is a project funded by the California Judicial Council and works to improve the way a court manages cases involving children and families.

Family Assessment Specialist - In complex cases where custody mediation has not worked and safety issues are involved regarding the children, the Family Law judge may appoint the Family Assessment Specialist to investigate facts that relate to the child's best interest. 

Supervised Visitation & Exchange Services - In Napa County supervised visitation and exchange services are available through the community-based Napa Access program, which is provided by Cope Family Center.  Domestic Violence Services
